Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. Nixon was born on Oct. 31, 1930, in Iraan, Texas, to Henery Lawrence Nixon and Hilda Augusta (Rutledge) Nixon. He married Evelyn Jean Obel on Nov. 15, 1958, in Odessa. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Mother of Sorrow Catholic Church in Burnet. He loved fishing and, over the years, spent many weekends camping and fishing at Brady Lake with friends and family. In addition to fishing, he loved boating, hunting, motorcycle riding and was a huge NASCAR fan. He especially loved his family, and teasing and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren every chance he got. Nixon was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one sister. Survivors include son Eliot Nixon and wife Dianna of Burnet; grandchildren Thomas Kennedy, Deonna Breeden, Kristina Reyes, Courtney Lambert, Sandra Nixon and Whitney Nixon; nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way; nephew Ray Kent Livingston; and niece Patricia Howard.
