He married the former Jane Myers in 1966 and was ordained into the ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1967. George served for many years as pastor in churches in Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Virginia and other states and as chaplain in institutions in Kansas , Kentucky and Texas. He retired from the ministry in 2007 after serving the Christian Church in Burnet for seven years. He leaves behind Jane, his wife of 46 years; sister Diane Perrine Coon of Shelbyville, Ky; brother William Conway Perrine of Clarksville, Ind.; longtime friend Wayne Barnet of Villa Hills, Ky; five nephews and nieces; and scores of people whose lives were blessed and changed by his deep faith, loving presence, eternal optimism and sense of humor. George loved his church, friends and family and University of Louisville football and basketball. The family thanks the staff of Cedar Park Regional Medical Center for its dedicated care well as the congregation and ministers of United Christian Church for their love, support and prayers. Viewing was Monday, March 4 at Beck Funeral Home, Cedar Park, Texas from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at United Christian Church, 3500 West Parmer Lane, Austin, on Tuesday, March 5 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Communities United for Fair Lending at United Christian Church, 3500 West Parmer Lane, Austin, TX 78727; LACare Food Bank, Post Office Box 1115 Burnet, TX 78611; or the charity of your choice. |
