Eugene Douglas Dillon March 28, 1923 ~ March 4, 2013
Eugene Douglas Dillon, 89, of Horseshoe Bay passed away March 4 at home on hospice after a long, hard illness. Born March 28, 1923 in Cleburne, he was the son of Verne and Ethelda (Richardson) Dillon. After graduating from Texas A&M, Gene joined the Army and served as an officer in China during World War II. After leaving the service he settled in Beaumont and had a veterinarian practice for many years. Gene loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing especially. Duplicate bridge was his favorite pastime and he became a life master. He also loved to travel and play golf. He genuinely loved life and will be missed by all that knew him. Gene is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Horseshoe Bay; daughter Sara and husband Robert Celli, Jr. of Beaumont; son David Dillon of Lumberton; grandchildren: Tiffany Celli and husband Max of Dallas, Christina Celli O’Bryant of Carrollton and Sarah Dillon of Lumberton; and great-grandchildren: Blake Steelman, Caroline Steelman and Riley O’Bryant. He is also survived by Christina Segovia, his caregiver for many years and now a family member. Visitation will be Friday, March 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at Cleburne Memorial Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com.
