Born Aug. 16, 1963, to Jimmie Dale (Big Jim) and Sue Cherry in Hereford, Texas, Jim rushed head long into life bringing with him a bubble of happiness we were all blessed to share. Equipped with an unquenchable thirst for all things hilarious, he knew the world needed a shot of goodness and a moment of comic relief.
After high school, he attended Texas State Technical Institute in Waco where he met and married Jena Talley. Together they began a successful career as stone brokers in the Hill Country and raised son Jimmie Dale, lll (Trey) and daughter Kristen on the shores of Lake LBJ. With a quick wit and fearlessness through seasons of boating, hang-gliding, riding his Harley, family vacations, and the highs and lows of Dallas Cowboy games, he lived life to the fullest and built glorious memories.
In addition to Jena, his beloved wife of 24 years and two children Trey and Kristen, he leaves behind his mother Sue and husband Lonnie Cardinal of Hereford, sister Kelly (Lolly Sue) and husband Jimmy Ramirez of St. Joseph, Mo., grandmother Alice McDade of Dumas, Texas, father and mother-in-law Bob and Peggy Talley of Waco, step siblings Michelle Carroll of Arlington, Kevin Cardinal of Hereford, Kris Cardinal of Bedford, Texas, Kerri Grabber of Amarillo, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom feel the bruise and vacancy of his passing.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Dale Cherry, Sr. in 2002.
The family invites guests to celebrate Jimís life Friday, March 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Kingsland. Reverends Doug Lindley and Robert Billingslea will officiate.
