Jim was a band director in South Texas and San Antonio. The last 10 years of his career was as Coordinator of Fine Arts at Harlandale ISD. After retirement, Jim and Violet accompanied student band and choir groups on cruises.
He was a longtime resident of San Antonio, moving to Horseshoe Bay in 2008 to enjoy retirement. They joined St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and the Horseshoe Bay Resort. Jim enjoyed being on his boat on Lake LBJ with family and friends. They also enjoyed cruising to many destinations and traveling abroad and last summer they celebrated their 30th cruise.
Survivors include his wife and soul mate of 37 years Violet May, sons Tim Moczygemba, Larry May, Phillip May and Robert May, grandchildren Turner and Parker Moczygemba, April (Gary) Davis, Casey (Lee) Hosler, Jamie (Allison) May, Kelly (Julie) May, and Lilly May, and great-grandchildren Alexis and Brock Davis, Aubry and Sydney Hosler, Ellie, Mollie, Gabriel, and Lucy May. He also leaves behind his beloved pets Walter his Westie and his cat Boots.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jimmy May.
Visitation was Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 5 p.m. with rosary at 6:15 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Chapel. Funeral.
Mass will be Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Reuben Patino officiating. Interment will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
