Thomas Glenn Fields

Glenn graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1953 after earning three consecutive All-State honors and a state championship in basketball. He played basketball for Rice University in Houston on a four-year scholarship. Glenn married his high school sweetheart Joyce Hendrix on Aug.11, 1956 in Livingston. After graduating from Rice in 1958, Glenn served in the United States Army, spending most of his time in Budigen, Germany. After serving, he returned to Houston and worked for American General Insurance Company for 13 years.
In 1974, Glenn moved his family to Marble Falls and bought an insurance agency. He was in the insurance business for 35 years before retiring. He served the community in many ways. In 1977, he was president of the Marble Falls Rotary Club, vice president of the Marble Falls Chamber of Commerce, was an officer with the Highland Lakes Tourist Association and was Chairman of the Howdy Roo, Marble Falls’ annual festival. In 1979, Glenn received the Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Glenn was well liked by everyone. He was a loving and caring man who had a contagious smile, wit, generous heart and an unforgettable laugh. A life-long sports enthusiast, he always had a zest for life and loved the outdoors. He loved his God and his family dearly and treated everyone with respect, kindness, and friendliness. Glenn was a loyal friend who lived his life with honesty and integrity.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Daryl Glenn Fields, his wife Laura, and four grandchildren Brandon, Lindsey, Brady and Lacey, all of San Antonio; brother, Joe Fields and wife Judy of Deer Park, brother-in-law, Shirald D. Hendrix, and wife Suzy of the Woodlands, and nieces and nephews, Kayla and Linn Fields, Contessa and Todd Fields, and Angie and Tony Tieman, all of Deer Park; Deana and Art Kirby of San Antonio; Kim and Scott Skoneki of Montgomery, Ala.; and Brandi and Dean Hendrix of Montgomery, Texas. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Thomas Fields, in-laws, Bessie and Elias Hendrix, and sister-in-law, Ann Hendrix.
Pallbearers are Linn Fields, Todd Fields, Tony Tieman, Art Kirby, Scott Skoneki, Dean Hendrix, and Ronnie Bowen of Marble Falls. Honorary pallbearers are Jane and Ron Schreiber, Sherry and Tom Brown, Bobbye and Duane Michel, Gay and Richard Bergman, Phylis and Charlie Christensen, Perry and Clyde Wimberly, Kathy and John Allen, Carolyn Beck, Faye Dockery and Karon Bowen.
The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Max Copeland at 11 a.m.. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 US Hwy. 281 N, in Marble Falls. Interment is at Big Sandy Community Church and Cemetery in Dallardsville, near Livingston at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15.
