Freda Fahrner McNally passed away on Aug. 13 at the age of 99 years. She was born on April 20, 1914, in Helena, Okla. to Godfrey and Allie Belle (Williams) Fahrner.
In March 1932, Freda and her sweetheart, Conse Hugh McNally, eloped, crossing from Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Oklahoma. Conse and Freda enjoyed 76 years of marriage and were blessed by three children. Freda was loved by her family, and they frequently enjoyed her baked treats, candies and chocolates, and crafts.
One of her hobbies was quilting. As a young couple, Freda and Conse enjoyed square dancing and folk dancing. They taught folk dancing — then called couple dancing — in New Orleans for a number of years. Up until her last days, upon hearing music, Freda would tap her foot, ready to dance.
Upon retirement in 1978, Freda and Conse relocated from New Orleans to Burnet, where she lived surrounded by her family. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Hoover’s Valley Fire Department and EMS and the Sherwood Shores Property Owners Association.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven siblings, son John H. McNally, and one great-grandson. She is survived by her two daughters, Connie Bielefeld of Burnet and Mary Ann Hutchinson of Slidell, La. and Burnet; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren.
A graveside service and burial for Freda was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park with great-grandson Joshua Landrum officiating. Memorial donations may be sent to Seton Highland Lakes Home Health and Hospice at P.O. Box 1219 Burnet, Texas, 78611. Condolences may be offered to www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com.
