Mrs. Baker was born in Clayton, Okla. on Dec. 17, 1934 to parents Opal Marie Jackson Hayslip and Herbert Joseph Hayslip. She is preceded in death by both her parents and sisters, Louise and Leavill. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jimmie Ray Baker; daughter Teresa Ann Cook, sons William Ray Lee, Jimmie Wayne Baker and Jerry Allen Clark Baker. Her extended family includes son-in-law Mack Cook and daughters-in-law Mary Goss Lee, LeeAnn Howland Baker and Amy Croxton Baker; grandchildren Barry William Lee, William Wayne Holden Jr., Kristin Ann Lee Gaither, Charles Croxton Baker, Trevor Scott Baker, Haley Ann Baker, and Karen Faith Baker; great-grandchildren Grace, Joshua, Emma, Ava, Grayson, Logan, Dane, Jenny, and Kevin.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker met through their love of bowling when one evening, he asked her to keep score for a game that he and his buddies were playing. She also loved gardening, crocheting, painting, photography and many other creative pursuits, but nothing gave "Meemaw” more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand children.
Her grandson, Reverend Steven Gaither, Senior Pastor of Orange Grove Baptist Church, conducted her service at Briggs Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Jerry Baker, Wayne Baker, Barry Lee, Bill Holden, Charlie Baker and Trevor Baker. Mrs. Baker was buried in Dillingham Cemetery in Briggs.
The family wishes to extend its thanks to Brodie Ranch RHC, Nurse Kelly Ramsey and the team at Standards Hospice for their compassionate care of Ruby and the family, and also to the hospitality committee of Briggs Baptist Church for their graciousness to the family during and after the funeral.
Arrangements were made by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Texas.
