Faith Academy loses, 46-43

Faith Academy couldn’t make free throws and failed to deliver in crunch time Friday in the TAPPS Division II state semifinals at Mansfield’s Lake Ridge High School.

Sherman Texoma Christian knocked off the Lady Flames, 46-43, despite neither team scoring in the final 1:24 of the wide-open game.

Llano knocked out of playoff contention

Cierra Jordan scored 17 points and had eight rebounds to lead the Llano Lady Jackets against Burnet Friday night at Burnet in District 8-3A girls basketball action.

The 48-34 loss eliminates Llano from playoff contention.

Burnet puts game away at line

Burnet connected on 21 of 24 free throws (87 percent) to stay undefeated in District 8-3A play by downing the Llano Lady Jackets 50-39 in a spirited game at the LHS gym.

Senior Center Jessica Wunderlich does the little things for the Llano Lady Jackets – setting picks, grabbing offensive rebounds and making quick, accurate passes to cutters attacking the basket.

Gatesville unleashes 3-point storm

It’s hard to imagine anybody shooting three-point shots as well as Gatesville did Friday night at Llano High School.
The visiting Hornets (1-0, 10-12) connected on eight of 10 three-point shots in the first half (75 percent) and 13 of 19 (68 percent) for the entire game to win the District 8-3A opener 64-42. Llano is 0-1 and 13-10.

Wimberley holds off Llano girls

The rivalry between Wimberley and Llano’s girls’ teams was renewed Friday night at the LHS Gym. Wimberley won a rather schizoid affair 42-39 when Llano’s Cierra Jordan just missed a buzzer shot that would have sent the game into overtime.
