Roger Dale Holt, 70, of Buchanan Dam died April 30, 2013. He was born to
James J. and Ruth Kathryn Fair Holt Jr. on June 30, 1942 in Rockford,
Ill.
Holt served his country in the United States Air Force, serving during
the Vietnam War, retiring in 1981. He was married to Anita Svenddal in
1984. He was a member of the V.F.W., and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Read more... |

Jack Randall "Jay” Price, 52, of Tow died April 30, 2013. He was born to
Carl and Sandra (Woner) Price on Dec. 6, 1960 in Lincoln Park, Mich.

J. E. ‘Johnny’ Hale April 15, 1923 ~ April 26, 2013
J. E. (Johnny) Hale, 90, of Buchanan Dam died Friday, April 26, 2013 of natural causes.
He was the born to the late Cora and John Hale April 15, 1923 in Wise,
Va. He was preceded in death by his third wife Bobbie Hale and his
second wife Vivian Huffines Hale.
One of nine children, Johnny was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Johnny was a mechanic, a body repairman, bar owner (he referred to his
bar as a community center), a handyman, a pilot, a motorcyclist, a
fighter, a Merchant Marine, a stuntman, an adventurer, and in the end - a
Christian. As a Merchant Marine, he flew supplies to fighting troops in
WWII, often under heavy fire. As a stuntman in the Circus of Death
traveling stunt show in the 50’s, he performed many death-defying feats
including being strapped to the hood of a car as it jumped off a ramp
and through a wall of fire. He would also drive a car on two wheels on
its side, and ride an Indian motorcycle in the famed Cage of Death.
Asked how he would practice such stunts, he just shrugged and said, "You
just had to get out there and do it.” He once said, "If I had known I
was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.”

Herman ‘Red’ Taylor June 11, 1927 ~ April 27, 2013
Herman Edward "Red” Taylor, age 85 of Kingsland died April 27, 2013. The
fourth child of Roy C. Taylor and Ann Bird Taylor, Herman was born on
June 11, 1927, in Bertram.
Herman served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII and
provided for his family as a farmer, rancher and business owner of the
Texaco service station in Bertram. He loved hunting, fishing and
serving his Lord as a volunteer at the Highland Lakes Church of Christ
Food Pantry where he became friends with many in the Kingsland
community. He served as a deacon of the Highland Lakes Church of Christ
and was passionate about the World Bible School Ministry.
Herman was seldom seen without a button down shirt and was known for his red hair with its natural finger waves. Read more... |
Ophelia R. Neal March 24, 1914 – April 29, 2013
Ophelia Neal, 99, died April 29, 2013.
She was born March 24, 1914 at Pendleton to Webb H. and Flora A. Raborn.
She now joins her husband of thirty-three years Charles M. Neal Sr , who
predeceased her in 1988, sister Lorene, brothers Walter Hugh, Bonnie,
Virgil and Delbert, her son Carl Dean Proctor, and grandson Michael D.
Proctor.
She is survived by two sisters Ovella Phillips of Belton and Violet Dunn-Markle of Burnet.
She is also survived by daughter-in-law Alice Proctor of Aurora, Neb., and son Charles M. Neal Jr. and wife Judy of Porter. Read more... |
Johnnie Siniard Gallimore Oct. 22, 1928 ~ April 28, 2013
Johnnie was born on October 22, 1928 to Herschel Davis and Nell John
Eaves Siniard in Llano. She passed from this life on April 28, 2013 in
Conroe. She was married to Raymond Carlisle "Pete” Gallimore on Dec. 17,
1948 in Alice. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before he
passed away in 1999.
They had three children – Valarie, David (who died as an infant) and
Laurie. She worked and retired from the Farm Credit Bank in Harlingen

Lavonia ‘Phayrene’ Scott
Lavonia "Phayrene” Scott, 94, of Marble Falls died April 21, 2013.
Phayrene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years William
"Scottie”, her brothers G.C. and Howard Burk, and her infant sons Harry
and Larry. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda of Hurst,
her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Robyn of San Antonio, her
grandchildren Cheryl and her husband Jeff of Austin, Catherine and her
husband Ernest of Granite Shoals, William and his wife Brandy of
Virginia Beach, Virginia and Sharra of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, her great
grandchildren Brittany, Jacob, Meghan, Heather, George, Amber, Zachary,
Emilie, Haley and Samuel. Also surviving are her numerous friends she

Barbara Perkins
Barbara Perkins, 93, died April 17, 2013. She and Robert her husband of
more than 60 years were longtime residents of Conroe and lived in
Meadowlakes for the past 8 years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert. She is survived by
her sister Norma Parker of Meadowlakes, and many nieces and nephews.

Robbie L. Lawson, age 91, of Kingsland, Texas died April 24, 2013. She
was born in Eden,Texas on April 5, 1922 to Robert L. Harmon and Bessie
Maude McCall. She was a retail operation manager for most of her life.
Robbie was in the Air Force. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school class
and loved sports.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Creek of Kingsland. Caregiver
Rose Ladner of Burnet. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin
Lawson, her brother John D. Harmon, and sisters Ruth West and Laranel
