Highland Lakes residents’ prayers for rain were answered Monday night when an inch or more of rain fell before midnight in the Highland Lakes.
Rain overnight was forecast, according to Lower Colorado River Authority and National Weather Service reports Monday afternoon. The rain ”could cause significant issues for the Tuesday morning commute” according to a briefing from Jon Zeitler of the National Weather Service (Austin-San Antonio).
Almost all Central Texas, including Burnet County, and LLano County will be under a Flash Flood Watch from Monday evening through noon Tuesday because rainfall is expected to occur in a short period of time.
Rainfall totals just before midnight by the Lower Colorado River Authority included:
Cherokee: 3.72 inches
Lake LBJ at 1431 bridge: 1.40
